Visio Divina

Visio Divina (a prayer practice that means “divine seeing”) is simply sitting with God as you view an image. One of my favorite articles on the Visio Divina connects these two activities saying, “Visio divina is the practice of letting God tell a story to our soul by ​“reading” us a picture book.” We sit in the lap of God as he delights in us taking in what we see.

Here are some simple steps to practicing visio Divina:

  • One: Opening to God

  • Two: Gazing with God

  • Three: Noticing & Listening

  • Four: Overflowing, Resting

  • Five: Returning
